1. Select the correct size. Measure the rear compartment or laptop sleeve of your intended backpack. Choose the size that fits flat without folding.

2. Insert the panel. Slide the Rear Guard into the rear compartment or laptop sleeve with the protective side facing toward your body (for standard carry) or the threat (when deployed as a front shield).

3. Carry daily. The panel is designed for continuous daily carry — it is not heavy enough to change your carry habits.

4. During a threat: If retreat is possible, prioritize moving away from the threat. Keep the bag between you and the threat as you move.

5. If retreat is not possible: Remove the bag and hold it in front of you with the panel facing the threat. Use it as a hand-held shield while seeking cover.

6. After any ballistic event: Replace the panel immediately, even if no visible penetration occurred. The panel's protective matrix is designed for single-use protection.
