The flick-to-lock mechanism deploys in a single motion. Under stress, multi-step actions fail. A single wrist snap that locks automatically removes the cognitive load from deployment — the baton is extended and ready before adrenaline has time to interfere with fine motor skills.

1. Holster for carry. Slide the collapsed baton into the nylon holster and clip to your belt loop or duty belt. The baton should be accessible from your dominant hand.
2. Deploy with a flick. Grip the handle firmly and snap the baton downward with a sharp, decisive wrist motion. The baton extends and locks automatically.
3. Establish distance. Hold the baton in a guard position. The length is your first tool — create and maintain space before physical contact becomes necessary.
4. Retract after use. To collapse the baton, find a hard surface (ground, concrete) and firmly press the tip straight down until the sections collapse back into the handle. Do not attempt to retract mid-encounter.
Practice the deploy and retract sequence regularly so both motions are automatic before you need them.
